Let’s say this player is average at everything, offense, defense, b-ball iq and athleticism. He is give an offseason to develop one of the two aspects of his game – offense or defense. Which is easier to improve on with such a player? If I were to rephrase this question. Let’s say, He gets the same raise irrespective of which skill he improves. But once he decides that on a skill to work on he sticks to it. Which one would he choose and why?

  1. When players get older, their offense slow down but gets better in defense, think Andre Iguodala. On the other hand, players such as Jimmy Butler, Donovan Mitchell, Kawhi Leonard- these guys came to the league with defensive expectations but now they are the go to scorers of their respective teams.
